Wrist (by Matt Johnston) Even if smartwatches are the next big thing, it doesn’t mean the simple watches of yesterday are out of fashion yet. These absolutely fantastic animated GIFs of some classic time pieces are by Matt Johnston, a California-based designer. In a series of GIFs created for his website Wrist.IM, the designer and a few guest illustrators depict numerous contemporary watches. Those include the iconic Casio F91W and Braun BN0032 as well as the gorgeous No.1 by Form Us With Love, the minimal Extra Normal, and the playful Timex Weekender. All illustrations use the same simple and very clean style. The movement of the watch hands is hypnotizing and simulates the time flying by. Check out the gallery below for a selection of Johnston’s work, but keep an eye on his beautiful website as the designer plans to add more creations in the future.
